LEXINGTON, S.C. – The Lexington County Sheriff’s Department and the Lexington County Sheriff’s Foundation are accepting registrations for the Jailbreak Escape Urban Challenge Run to be held Saturday, Aug. 24, at the Lexington County Sheriff’s Department on Gibson Road.
“This year’s theme is ‘Seventh Time’s the Charm’ and features CrossFit-style exercises and obstacles throughout a 3.1 mile race course,” Lexington County Sheriff Jay Koon said. “Participants of all fitness levels are invited to race in teams of two.”
Koon said the registration fee is $60 through Aug. 20. From Aug. 21 until the day of the event, the registration fee is $70. Proceeds benefit the Lexington County Sheriff’s Foundation’s effort to purchase equipment, materials and supplies that aren’t provided in the Sheriff’s Department’s annual budget.
Registration packets will be available for pickup at 6:15 a.m. the day of the event. The race starts at 8 a.m.
“Between 6 a.m. and 10:30 a.m. on Aug. 24, there will be road closures and traffic delays as we work to protect the safety of race participants,” Koon said.
Gibson Road will be closed from Gibson Court to Highway 1. Duffie Road and Hendrix Street will also be closed.
To register for the event, visit Strictly Running’s website. Register by Aug. 5 to get a t-shirt, registrations after this date are not guaranteed a t-shirt.
