Sheriff Jay Koon recently promoted eight deputies, one civilian employee and transferred a correctional officer and a deputy.
Ray Chandler, 49, has been promoted to registry compliance clerk. Chandler, a resident of Cayce, previously served as a front desk specialist. He was hired in June 1997.
Ty Haigler, 49, has been promoted to master deputy over administration building security. Haigler, a resident of Gaston, previous served as a code enforcement officer. He was appointed to serve as a deputy sheriff in May 2005.
Nicholas Huffstetler, 29, has been promoted to master deputy in patrol. Huffstetler, a resident of Gaston, previously served as a patrol deputy in the department’s north region, which is based near Irmo. He was appointed to serve as a deputy sheriff in February 2015.
Jonathan Jeffcoat, 38, has been promoted to resident deputy in Batesburg-Leesville. Jeffcoat, a resident of Lexington, previously served as a patrol deputy in the department’s north region. He was appointed to serve as a deputy sheriff in June 2008.
Torrell Jones, 26, has been promoted to field training officer in patrol. Jones, a resident of West Columbia, previously served as a patrol deputy in the department’s north region. He was appointed to serve as a deputy sheriff in June 2015.
Nathaniel Mazzell, 25, has been promoted to field training officer in patrol. Mazzell, a resident of West Columbia, previously served as a patrol deputy in the department’s west region, which is based near Gilbert. He was appointed to serve as a deputy sheriff in March 2015.
Adrian Robinson, 34, has been promoted to field training officer in patrol, Robinson, a resident of Columbia, previously served as a patrol deputy in the department’s south region, which is based near Pelion. He was appointed to serve as a deputy sheriff in June 2015.
Bryan Sharpe, 27, has been promoted to field training officer in patrol. Sharpe, a resident of Lexington, previously served as a patrol deputy in the department’s north region. He was appointed to serve as a deputy sheriff in August 2015.
Stefan Sharpe, 28, has been promoted to field training officer in patrol. Sharpe, a resident of Columbia, previously served as a patrol deputy in the department’s south region. He was appointed to serve as a deputy sheriff in February 2015.
Walter Todd, 43, has been transferred to training sergeant in the Lexington County Detention Center. Todd, a resident of Batesburg, previously served as operations sergeant in the detention center. He was appointed to serve as a deputy sheriff in February 2007.
Scott Zylstra, 54, has been transferred to criminal investigator. Zylstra, a resident of Columbia, previously served as a patrol deputy in the department’s west region. He was appointed to serve as a deputy sheriff in April 2009.
