Lexington County Sheriff Jay Koon recently promoted three deputies and two correctional officers.
Blake Gainous, 26, has been promoted to master deputy in the department’s north patrol region, which is based near Irmo. Gainous, a resident of Chapin, previously served as a deputy. He was appointed to serve as a deputy sheriff in November 2013.
Billy Hutson, 38, has been promoted to sergeant in the Lexington County Detention Center. Hutson, a resident of Batesburg, previously served as a master correctional officer. He was appointed to serve as correctional officer in September 2009.
Brian Laird, 31, has been promoted to master correctional officer in the Lexington County Detention Center. Laird, a resident of Irmo, previously served as a correctional officer. He was appointed to serve as a correctional officer in February 2013.
Tim Martin, 51, has been promoted to master deputy in the department’s south patrol region, which is based near Pelion. Martin, a resident of Gilbert, previously served as a deputy. He was appointed to serve as deputy sheriff in May 2014.
Patrick Ward, 30, has been promoted to school resource officer at Batesburg-Leesville high School. Ward, a resident of Lexington, previously served as a deputy. He was appointed to serve as deputy sheriff in May 2014.
