LEXINGTON, S.C. – Lexington County investigators have charged two individuals accused of breaking into cars early Wednesday morning.
Jordan Deshawn Waden, 20, is charged with breaking into a motor vehicle and criminal conspiracy, according to arrest warrants. Deputies also arrested a 17-year-old suspect with Waden. The teen, whose name will not be released because he is under the age of 18, was released to a family member. He will appear in Lexington County Family Court. Detectives said they are working to identify and locate a third person they believe is associated with the Wednesday morning break-ins in a Rawl Road subdivision.
“Based on a review of items and evidence conducted by detectives, Waden and the two other subjects took CD’s and paperwork out of a couple of vehicles on Luna Trail,” Lexington County Sheriff Jay Koon said. “The three subjects ran away as deputies approached the scene where one of the cars was parked with an open door and trunk.”
A K-9 tracked Waden from the scene and he was found hiding in a pond, according to Koon.
“The case began with a suspicious person call from neighbors,” Koon said. “We want people to call us when they’re alarmed by something in their neighborhood. This is a great example of a community member being our eyes and ears. That’s the best way for us to work together.”
Waden has been released from the Lexington County Detention Center after meeting the conditions of his bond.
