Arrest warrants have been issued for two men in connection with the theft of vehicles from a car dealership.
Lexington County Sheriff’s Department detectives have served an arrest warrant on Blake Stephen Sparks, 34, of Lexington. An arrest warrant will be served on Mikel Edison King, 34, of Blythewood upon his release from the Alvin S. Glenn Detention Center on an unrelated charge.
Sparks and King removed five cars from a Charleston Highway car dealership by driving them through a chain link fence, according to the warrants.
“Early on in our investigation, we shared images of Sparks on our Facebook page with the hope that the community could help us identify him,” Lexington County Sheriff Jay Koon said. “The tips we received once those pictures hit social media were very helpful to the detectives on this case.”
Koon said Sparks and King have each been charged with a single count of grand larceny – property value $10,000 or more. Under South Carolina, grand larceny is a felony and punishable by a fine at the discretion of the court or up to 10 years in prison.
Sparks is being held in the Lexington County Detention Center while he awaits a bond hearing.
