LEXINGTON, S.C. –A former Lexington County deputy is accused of five counts of domestic violence, according to the State Law Enforcement Division.

Joshua Darren Jones

SLED agents arrested Joshua Jones, 33, after he turned himself in Monday morning at the Lexington County Sheriff’s Department headquarters.

“When I became aware of Mr. Jones’ alleged conduct, I launched an internal investigation that led to his termination of employment and referral to SLED for an independent criminal investigation,” Lexington County Sheriff Jay Koon said. “Deputies are held to a higher standard as part of their duty to protect and engage community members. That’s why we hold them accountable when they fall short.”

Jones was terminated June 13, according to Koon. Jones was hired as a deputy sheriff in November 2020.

He was booked into the Lexington County Detention Center Monday morning.
