Lorna Shay Elders, 37, is charged with first-degree harassment, misconduct in office and the disclosure of confidential information, according to detention center records.
“When I became aware of Ms. Edlers’ actions, I immediately launched an internal investigation and Elders resigned Feb. 15 from her position as a deputy sheriff while that investigation was ongoing,” Lexington County Sheriff Jay Koon said. “Deputies are held to a higher standard and maintaining a high level of trust is a key part of that.”
She was booked into the Lexington County Detention Center Monday morning. Elders has since been released after meeting the conditions of her bond.
