The Lexington County Sheriff’s Department has formed a team to take part in the American Cancer Society’s Relay for Life.
Relay for Life of Lexington is scheduled for Friday, May 13 at Lexington High School from 6 p.m. until midnight.
“Relay for Life is a great opportunity to gather and celebrate those who’ve battled cancer,” Lexington County Sheriff Jay Koon said. “We’ve all been touched in some way by the disease and it’s important for us as an agency to help in the search for its cure.”
Koon said Sheriff’s Department volunteers have raised funds selling Relay for life T-shirts that feature a logo memorializing a Lexington County Detention Center correctional officer who lost her battle against cancer earlier this year.
“Our team looks forward to joining other participants, volunteers, and supporters to help the American Cancer Society save lives from cancer,” Koon said.
