LEXINGTON, S.C. – An Irmo High School student is accused of making threats against students at the school on social media.
The student, whose name will not be released because he is under age 18, posted a threatening message in a group chat on social media Tuesday night. He was charged Wednesday with making school threats.
“The response to this threat on the part of school administrators and law enforcement represents across-the-board coordination and the system working,” Lexington County Sheriff Jay Koon said. “Thanks to the FBI for receiving the initial threat notification and working with us at LCSD. We’re glad everyone stayed safe and there was never a disturbance or interruption on campus.”
The student was released to the custody of his mother. The student will appear in Lexington County Family Court at a later date.
