The Lexington County Sheriff’s Department is encouraging residents in a Gilbert neighborhood to be on alert after a string of suspicious fires this month.
“Three suspicious fires have been reported to us in recent days and they’re all under investigation,” Lexington County Sheriff Jay Koon said. “The first fire damaged a mailbox near West Drake. A few days later, an SUV was burned on Canvasback Road and a shed at a West Drake home was set on fire, both on the same day.”
Koon said residents should immediately report any flames and suspicious activity by calling 911.
“Nobody has been hurt in these three fires, but they have resulted in property damage and loss,” Koon said. “The public can help us prevent another one by sharing any information they might have and keeping an eye on things in their neighborhood.”
Anyone with information about these fires should contact the Lexington County Sheriff’s Department at 803-785-2400 or Crimestoppers at 888-CRIME-SC. Anonymous tips can be submitted at www.LexingtonSheriff.com.
