The Lexington County Sheriff’s Department is partnering with Timberlake Plantation and the Timberlake Country Club to sponsor the seventh annual Timberlake Youth Triathlon in Chapin Aug. 26.
Children 12 and under will compete at the Timberlake Country Club in five different categories tailored to their age group.
Children 5 and under will swim 10 meters, bike 200 yards and run 200 yards.
Kids ages 6 and 7 will swim 25 meters, bike one mile and run three-quarters of a mile.
Entrants ages 8 and 9 will swim 50 meters, ride a bicycle for three miles and run three-quarters of a mile.
Ten- and 11-year-old participants will swim 100 meters, bike three miles and run three-quarters of a mile. Twelve-year-olds will do the same but with an additional 50 meters of swimming.
A $30 registration fee will benefit the Justin Pepper Foundation, which focuses on building character in youth by participating in charitable activities.
