LEXINGTON, S.C. – Lexington County deputies have arrested a West Columbia man accused of trying to kill three people in a shooting Tuesday evening.
Ivy Tyrone Richardson Jr., 52, is charged with three counts of attempted murder, a single count each of possession of a weapon during a violent crime, unlawful possession of a weapon and firing a weapon into an occupied vehicle, according to arrest warrants.
“Based on the information deputies gathered on scene, Richardson shot a rifle multiple times into a car with three people inside,” Lexington County Sheriff Jay Koon said. “Detectives have determined this is connected to an ongoing property dispute.”
Richardson threatened to kill the victims multiple times before the events that led up to the Tuesday evening shooting, according to Koon.
“Two people were hit by shots fired by Richardson,” Koon said. “Their medical teams tell us they’re expected to recover.”
Deputies took Richardson into custody at the scene about a half hour after the shooting. He is being held in the Lexington County Detention Center.
