Lexington County Sheriff Jay Koon has announced the promotion of eight deputies and one civilian employee, as well as the transfer of one deputy.
Travis Bass, 43, has been promoted to patrol sergeant in the department’s north region, which is based near Irmo. Bass, a resident of Lexington, previously served as a school resource officer. He was appointed to serve as a deputy sheriff in April 2006.
Kevin Blackmon, 41, has been promoted to assistant commander in the department’s north region. Blackmon, a resident of Lexington, previously served as a lieutenant in judicial services. He was appointed to serve as a deputy sheriff in May 2004.
Lori Hayes, 46, has been promoted to human resources specialist. Hayes, a resident of Lexington, previously served as an administrative assistant in the department’s north region. She was hired in June 1992.
Tyler Kennedy, 26, has been promoted to field training officer in patrol. Kennedy, a resident of West Columbia, previously served as a deputy in the department’s north region. He was appointed to serve as a deputy sheriff in October 2016.
Jesse Laintz, 37, has been transferred to assistant region commander in the department’s south region, which is based near Pelion. Laintz, a resident of Lexington, previously served as assistant commander of the department’s north region. He was appointed to serve as a deputy sheriff in March 2006.
Nick McMillin, 26, has been promoted to master deputy in patrol in the department’s north region. McMillin, a resident of Lexington, previously served as a field training officer. He was appointed to serve as a deputy sheriff in July 2014.
Aaron Poole, 36, has been promoted to patrol sergeant in the department’s north region. Poole, a resident of Gaston, previously served as a master deputy. He was appointed to serve as a deputy sheriff in July 2006.
Bryan Sharpe, 27, has been promoted to master deputy in patrol in the department’s south region. Sharpe, a resident of Lexington, previously served a field training officer. He was appointed to serve as a deputy sheriff in August 2015.
Michael Smith, 42, has been promoted to field training officer in patrol. Smith, a resident of West Columbia, previously served as a deputy in the department’s west region. He was appointed to serve as a deputy sheriff in December 2016.
Nate Twigg, 44, has been promoted to crime scene investigator. Twigg, a resident of Lexington, previously served as a deputy in the department’s west region, which is based near Gilbert. He was appointed to serve as a deputy sheriff in August 2015.
